Benjamin Leto is certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine and has trained hundreds of people with fitness goals ranging from weight loss to injury recovery. He began his career as a health professional at the second-biggest Gold’s Gym in Utah, and he has trained clients privately since. He has helped people lose up to 50 pounds of fat, gain up to 25 pounds of muscle, and recover from ankle, knee, hip, back, shoulder, wrist, and neck injuries. He has even helped a stroke victim learn to feel his once-unusable leg, enabling him to walk up stairs and on nature paths.
Benjamin began weight training as a young teenager, and in time, he added over 50 pounds of lean muscle to his frame while simultaneously increasing strength and maintaining a low body fat percentage. However, his progress was significantly halted by an extremely rare genetic condition called cleidocranial dysplasia, a condition which affects only 1 in every 1 million people. In his early 20’s, he developed joint pain and movement dysfunction so severe that he could not lift his arm over his head, perform a push-up or body-weight squat, or even run. Despite seeing 5 orthopedic surgeons, undergoing 2 surgeries, and working with 4 physical therapists, Benjamin remained unhealed, and his surgeries left him even more debilitated than he was before. He was accordingly informed that his pain was untreatable and that he would have to settle for a life of both pain and little to no physical activity.
Unwilling to settle for such a life, Benjamin researched numerous training techniques and philosophies. Through years of research, experimentation, and trial and error, he discovered many techniques and routines that healed him, despite having been told by multiple doctors and physical therapists that he was beyond hope. He quickly found that these techniques helped others as well, many of whom were also unhealed after numerous treatments from various medical professionals. Combined with his understanding of mindfulness cultivated through years of meditation and time spent living in a Buddhist Monastery, Benjamin developed a method of training for himself and for others throughout the country that is now known as BodyMind Fitness.
